Position Summary

Established in 1974, the Rape Treatment Center (RTC) at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center is internationally recognized for its pioneering work and exemplary treatment, prevention, and education programs. The RTC is a leader in advancing policy reforms, creating multi-agency partnerships, and developing innovative service delivery models to help bring justice and compassionate care to victims wherever they turn for help. Primary Responsibilities
As our Associate Director, Leadership Annual Giving, you will primarily be responsible for sponsorships, pipeline development and identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts from prospects and donors with a specific focus on soliciting gifts at the $25,000+ level for the RTC and other priority areas as assigned. You will manage a portfolio of current and/or lapsed donors; will create individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies and timetables; and will work with the Senior Director of Development, RTC on applying for/submitting proposals and grants. As our Associate Director, you will plan and execute engagement and cultivation activities, donor communications, proposals and related materials. You will work with program administration and staff, development colleagues and a wide array of other internal and external constituents. In addition, you will work in partnership with the Senior Director of Development, RTC to address the specific goals of these initiatives while collaborating with other HSD team members who are focused on a broad spectrum of fundraising projects and initiatives. Qualifications
1. Minimum of two years of demonstrated annual giving or fundraising experience and/or prior experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development.

2. Minimum of one year of grant writing experience, preferably in a university, hospital-based medical clinic, research institution or other organization of equivalent complexity with a proven track record of success with foundation and organization funders.

3. Experience with the grant/proposal writing process.

4. Experience conceptualizing, planning and implementing special events. 

5. Experience with Blackbaud CRM or equivalent development database and the use of databases to generate reports is preferred.

6. Working knowledge of principles and practices of fundraising in a major research university or institution of equivalent complexity including annual giving techniques.  

7. Ability to conceptualize and implement broad ranging and specific individual identification, cultivation and solicitation strategies.

8. Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to write and edit reports, business correspondence, proposals and other cultivation and solicitation materials; ability to prepare clear and compelling materials for fundraising events, initiatives and programs.

9. Excellent oral communication skills to collect and convey information with accuracy, diplomacy and tact; ability to persuasively express the mission of the university and the fundraising goals of the campus, especially as they relate to UCLA HSD.

10. Detail-oriented with ability to take initiative, work independently and accept responsibility; adept at setting priorities and managing work flow to fulfill objectives and meet goals accordingly to deadlines in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

11. Ability to work effectively as part of a team with well-developed interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and build and sustain lasting relationships with a wide variety of internal and external constituents.   

12. Proficiency with Microsoft suite of applications as well as familiarity with other database, spreadsheet, scheduling and email applications; willingness to learn new programs and applications in a prompt and efficient manner.

13. Knowledge of data management and manipulation sufficient to retrieve data and isolate specific market segments.

14. Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor files and other information; impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, alumni, students, administrators and colleagues.

15. Strong ability to recruit, orient, train, organize, motivate and evaluate staff and volunteers who support development goals and programs.

16. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.

17. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
