Position Summary
If you are highly organized, detail-oriented and want your work to make an impact, start or further your career as a Development Assistant with UCLA's Samueli School of Engineering. Recognized around the world as a leader in engineering education, research and service, the School has developed generations of rigorously trained engineers and has been the home for solutions to challenges in fields including energy, sustainability, healthcare, communications, transportation, infrastructure and information technology. You will be part of dynamic team in a supportive environment that is committed to raising funds for the mission and goals of the Samueli School of Engineering. As a Development Assistant, this is an entry level position where you can build your career through our training, mentoring, and professional development programs.

Primary Responsibilities
You will work closely with all members of the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering External Affairs (EA) team, with a particular emphasis on annual giving, alumni relations and event coordination. As the Development Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to the EA team in a broad range of duties that assist with fundraising, communications, events and operational efforts. You will draft and edit correspondence, schedule meetings, and assist with event planning by using tools like databases, Outlook, Word, Google Docs and Excel. As part of you work, you will interact with community leaders, donors, volunteers, faculty and staff, that will enable you to hone your skills in delivering superb customer service that develops and sustains lasting relationships to meet our fundraising priorities. You will also greet visitors, process mail, prepare and organize data, maintain files, work with vendors and handle numerous administrative tasks.

**Please note, this is a hybrid position.**

Qualifications
1. Ability to learn and deliver customer service skills such as interacting in a friendly, professional manner and responding quickly and appropriately to requests.

2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

3. Ability to exercise independent judgment, take initiative, be resourceful and make decisions.

4. Ability to research, gather, analyze, and synthesize information from sources such as online searches, databases and files.

5. Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.

6. Ability to work as part of a team, be detail oriented, organized and meet deadlines.

7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion.

8. Proficiency with business software such as Google docs, Google forms, Word, Excel, and Outlook, and databases.

9. Must be able maintain a reliable and predictable work schedule including ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
